Medical hypnosis has been around since the mid 1950’s when Dr. Milton Erickson had it recognized by the American Medical Association. I found this excellent article on medical hypnosis submityourarticle.com.
The Miracle of Medical Hypnosis
It is now common knowledge that hypnosis has superior results for weight loss, quitting smoking, boosting confidence, stress reduction, memory improvement and so on. However, few know of the powerful effects hypnosis can have on the physical body, and its healing and immune systems.

Hypnotherapy and Stress
There is no doubt that hypnosis is a very effective treatment of stress. When an individual feels he does not have the resources to cope with a task he is confronted with stress develops. Hypnosis changes perception, belief and capability so the subject no longer feels he is no longer incapable.

I found this on Horizon Clinical Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is slowly but surely becoming an acceptable method of treatment for both the alternative and conventional medical industries. Hypnotherapy is a proven means of dealing with physical and emotional conditions and problems. Some of the areas I have personally worked in include pain control, insomnia, sports improvement – in actuality hypnotherapy can assist in any condition, situation involving the mind, body or mind and body…

I found this article on the website “Live With Less Stress”. It has some good information about hypnosis and stress.
How to Use Hypnosis for Stress Management
You have seen those shows where hypnosis is used dramatically to dissect and determine emotions that are hidden far in the mind. In reality, hypnosis is a good tool for stress management and although not as dramatic as in the films, it has helped a lot of people figure out their emotions and needs to overcome crisis. But what exactly is hypnosis? it comes from a Greek word ‘hypnos’ which is used to refer to sleep. It is an induced sleep by an instructor which enables a patient or a person to go into a form of a trance where they follow keenly questions being asked as they try to give answers hidden in their memories of experiences. The instructors who conduct hypnosis are called hypnotherapists.

One of the things that people ask me frequently is “If I come to you to reduce my stress will you make me bark like a dog?” The short answer to this question is no. As pretty much any expert will tell you, clinical hypnotherapy is a far cry from the stage hypnosis the most people are familiar with. As a matter of fact, many clinical hypnosis treatments don’t even involve the kind of induction used on stage. Although there are some people who do strictly clinical hypnotherapy, more often hypnosis is used as part of a larger treatment. You use suggestion, hypnosis, strategizing, analysis, and all the other techniques at your disposal to get the best results with the patient.
The clinical hypnotherapy part of it just happens to be the part that people focus on because it is so shrouded in mystery. It is also full of myths and misinformation. A lot of people find hypnosis to be strange or even frightening. I’ve even had people tell me “You’re doing the work of the devil” because they believe, seemingly without any control of their own, subjects of hypnotists drop into a trance where they will do anything they are told. This article was found on Diabetes Treatment
“You cannot always control circumstances, but you can control your own thoughts.”
Discussed in this article:
1) The Sleep-Diabetes Connection. 2) Sleep and Depression–A Brief Overview 3) How A Hypnotist Can Help.
The Sleep-Diabetes Connection
“Declare the past, diagnose the present, foretell the future; practice these acts. As to diseases, make a habit of two things–to help, or at least to do no harm.” (1)
Unfortunately sometimes a solution to one problem creates another. This means that, in some cases, to help is to inadvertently invite harm. Doctors are faced with this dilemma everyday.
For example, if a diabetic patient is depressed then, anti-depressants may be one solution. The challenge is that anti-depressants and many other medications can cause insomnia. (2)
This brings us to this article’s main point: The ‘Hidden Condition’ that frustrates doctors and hurt diabetics—Sleep disorders.

There are many excellent self hypnosis courses around but very few people actually make use of them. I think that this is because many people confuse self hypnosis with stage hypnosis and are a little apprehensive about using it.
Most of us have seen a stage hypnotist at some point in our lives, either on T.V. or live, but for many people these types of shows only reinforce that hypnosis is merely a form of light entertainment. As a matter of fact, again as a result of these stage shows, many people think they can not even be hypnotized. Read the rest of this entry »

Self hypnosis or auto hypnosis is a powerful tool for self improvement. You might not be able to be around a professional therapist whenever you need some assistance. In that case you can easily assist yourself and be your own therapist by performing self hypnosis. But many people don’t know much about this self improvement tool. So I have decided to write a post about it. In this post you will find almost everything you need to know about self-hypnosis, auto-hypnosis or auto suggestion. The aim of this post is not to convince you but to inform you.

This article was found on CATCM - Canadian Association of Therapists in Complementary Medicine Website
Before a surgery, hypnosis would relieve anxiety in the children as efficiently, and even more, than the usually used medication, assert French researchers.
These researchers of the University of Rennes1 recruited 50 children from 2-11 years old to for their study. All underwent a minor abdominal surgery.
Before being brought in operating room, half of subjects received an oral dose of midazolam, the drug the most usually used to relieve the anxiety of the children in such a situation. The other half benefited from a treatment of hypnosis, administered by the anaesthesiologist, besides receiving a placebo resembling the midazolam.
